June 12-14, 2009 TAPEMARK CHARITY PRO-AM CELEBRATED ITS 38th YEAR
In 1972, Bob Klas, Sr., chairman and founder of the Tapemark Company and Pat Cody, Sr., then vice president of the Tapemark Company, put their organizational skills and love of golf to work for a charitable cause. As the father of two children living with disabilities, Klas had seen first hand the growing financial needs of social agencies struggling to support and encourage people with developmental and learning disabilities.
The Tapemark Charity Pro-Am Tournament started that year and has since become one of the largest and longest-running events of its kind in the country.
“The Twin Cities community has been so supportive of the Tapemark Charity Pro-Am, helping us to raise millions of dollars for local charities,” said Phil Callen, President of the Tapemark Charity Pro-Am. “The commitment and generosity of the professional and amateur athletes in this state is unmatched.”
Agencies receiving funding from the the Pro-Am are Arc Greater Twin Cities, The Arc of Minnesota, the Learning Disabilities Program of Children’s Home Society and Family Services, Dakota Communities, and ProAct.The tournament held at Southview Country Club in West St. Paul, has raised over $6 million for local charities since its inception in 1972.
June 7, 2009 The Mufasa Foundation hosted a charity golf classic event at Coyote Hills Golf Course in Fullerton, CA.
The Mufasa Foundation in a non-profit foundation that provides a voice for sick or injured animals, promoting a progressive approach to veterinary medicine and animal conservation. The foundation’s objectives include raising funds and social awareness for scientific research focusing on degenerative disease in animals. It provides a platform for the community to share information on veterinary medicine, animal products, veterinary professionals and the area clinics and hospitals they serve.
