A multi-dimensional clearing house of information for amputee golfers, the scope of which includes but goes far beyond a schedule of golf tournaments. The association publishes an informative magazine, provides support on issues involving fitness and prosthetics for amputees, sponsors “First Swing” seminars and “Learn to Golf” clinics in conjunction with other supporting organizations and offers an educational grant in the form of a scholarship. There are also five regional amputee associations in the US (information available through the National site).


First Swing

Held annually nationwide, First Swing free clinics bring together golf professionals, physical and recreational therapists, and the physically challenged together to teach, learn, and enjoy the benefits of golf. Hosted by the National Amputee Golf Association along with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Trust, the Professional Golf Association (PGA) and the United States Golf Association (USGA).

American Blind Golf Association (ABGA)

The ABGA works to promote the game of golf to young blind people through clinics, seminars and other educational activities while educating and involving the general public in their mission.

The Alliance mission is to fully engage persons with disabilities in the game of golf by involving them in the golf community and experiencing both the social and health benefits of the game. The Alliance site offers toolkits that provide educational guidance to both players and golf course owners and operators.

GAIN (Golf: Accessible and Inclusive Networks)

GAIN is a project of the National Alliance for Accessible Golf and is sponsored by the United States Golf Association Foundation, the PGA TOUR and the PGA of America Foundation. The organization offers the opportunity for people with disabilities to become involved in the game of golf. GAIN is currently implemented in the following communities: Salt Lake City, Utah; Sacramento, CA; Baltimore County, Maryland; The North West Suburbs of Chicago, IL; Toledo, Ohio.
