Monday dawned misty and threatening rain; that left the tee wide open as we brought our weekend rivalry back to Bardmoor. We'd suffered nearly seventy two hours of anticipation, needling, bragging and rescripting the ground rules for our second and final familial round of golf of the vacation. One dollar a hole, automatic presses. The bet sounded benign enough when I teed off with my brother this past Friday at Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club in Largo, Florida. This match and its terms had been much discussed and anticipated, our own mini-getaway in the midst of a huge family gathering to celebrate our father’s 90th birthday. Next week at this time I'll just be finishing up eighteen holes at Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club. After a solid month of suffering freezing temperatures, I'm off to Florida for a family event.
