Golf and the Emotions

It Was Golf ~ It was Glorious

It was like a first taste of champagne,

playful and tingly and sharp.

It was like a hug from a dear, old friend

after a long absence -

awkward at first but

warm and familiar and welcome.

It was a monster drive

and a long exhale.

It was a chunked shot

and a reality check.

It was beautiful lob wedge over a trap,

soft to the green;

It was sweet relief.

It was a well executed downhill chip,

a short missed putt,

a shrug and a carefree adventure.

It was a smooth iron

and remembering how good it feels

to hit one perfectly square.

It was two hours of heaven;

It was coming home after a long journey.

It was the first time out after a long, cold winter.

It was golf.

It was glorious.
