Dennis Pines Golf

The Dennis Pines Legacy

I know, I know, I’ve made it clear that Golf Fore the Good is for the amateur golfer, not the pros.  Bear with me for a moment.

I am fortunate to play out of Dennis Pines Golf Course. It is one of the most respected municipal layouts in the area and undisputedly one of the toughest. The reputation of the Pines was known to me long before I moved to Dennis and it has not failed to live up to the hype.  No joke, I’ve seen good, solid low handicappers brought to their knees on our fairways over and over.

It seems there is rarely a time that there is not a Pines player aspiring to reach professional status, which I view as a testament to both the layout and quality of local competition.  We have a couple Pines alumni working various mini tours right now.  But the buzz at the Pines Café today is all about Carrie Wood who after thirteen years has earned a full exemption to the LPGA tour for 2007.

Carrie was already off on her professional journey when I moved to Dennis so I have not had the privilege of meeting her as of yet.  I am pretty sure she would say she benefited from her years at the Pines.  I know playing there has made me a better golfer (it’s all relative, I guess). Anyway, congratulations, Carrie; you’re a great role model. We’ll be pulling for you next season!
